I haven’t said anything on this blog till now about our BIG NEWS, but here it is: Summer House Soaps is moving out of the house and into commercial space where we will have a retail store in addition to our production facilities.

The reasons I haven’t mentioned it before:

1.  because it’s kept me so busy that I haven’t had time to write

2.  because I’ve been afraid to jinx it.

Seems like every time I told someone about our plan, something new would come up in the permitting process that would threaten to derail the whole thing. As recently as two days before I signed the lease, I didn’t know for sure if the whole thing was a go or not.

Perhaps this is my karma for all those years I sat on the Carver Planning Board, giving thumbs up or down to other peoples projects.  Hopefully, with all I’ve been through in the last three months, I’ve paid that karma off in full.

At any rate, it’s a go. Last Monday we moved all our stuff, and since then I’ve been frantically dealing with utility hookups, new computers, insurance, and a gazillion other things that a move entails. The pressure is on because we’ve placed an ad in the Cape Cod Times announcing our Grand Opening on December 8th. The paper has gone to press. No turning back now.

Yesterday at a craft show, I handed out a couple of dozen invitations to the opening before someone pointed out that the card had the wrong date on it. Eeek!

HEY, ANY OF YOU OUT THERE THAT I SAW AT THE WALDORF SCHOOL HOLIDAY FAIR YESTERDAY…IT’S THE 8TH, NOT THE 1ST!!!

Boy oh boy. It’s an exciting time. And my head is going to explode. More about this to come, but right now I have to go buy myself a desk and some fire extiguishers.
