When we got up early to see the sunrise the other day, I was awestruck by the thought that this magical event happens every single day.

And I was saddened to think how seldom I see it.

I spend thousands of hours on the computer every year, hundreds of hours reading, and many more watching TV, but maybe once a year, at best, do I get up to see the sun rise. How easy it is to lose touch with the unfolding of the real world – the natural world – that underpins all our human-made endeavors.

And isn’t it our mission in this life – among other things – to bear witness to this astonishing unfolding?
